세계한인회총연합회(이하 ‘세한총연’·회장 심상만)는 10월 7일 인천 송도컨벤시아에서 열린 창립 1주년 워크숍 개최 > 총연합회 소식 및 행사 결과

   세계한인회총연합회(이하 ‘세한총연’·회장 심상만)는 10월 7일 인천 송도컨벤시아에서 열린 창립 1주년 워크숍에서 내외동포 간 상생과 인류 공영에 이바지하는 글로벌 플랫폼을 구축하겠다는 비전을 선포했다.

  심상만 회장과 유럽한인회총연합회 회장인 유제헌 수석부회장은 이날 비전 선포식에서 ▲전세계 한인회네트워크 구축 ▲한인회 역량 강화를 위한 공공외교활동 활성화 ▲동포사회의 숙원사항 해소를 위한 연구조사 및 대외협력 활동에 나선다고 밝혔다.

  또 모국 지방자치단체 등 각급기관과 한인회 간 협력을 위해 노력하고, 차세대 인재 발굴 및 육성에도 앞장서겠다고 강조했다.

  심 회장은 “세한총연은 전 세계 한인회장들의 지지와 참여를 바탕으로 732만 재외동포의 목소리를 대변하겠다”며 “또한 동포들의 지위 향상을 도모하는 든든한 동반자가 되도록 최선을 다하겠다”고 약속했다.

  이어 참가자들은 무대에서 ‘동포청 국회통과를 기원합니다’라는 플래카드를 펼쳐 들고 “동포사회 숙원 해결 위해 여야가 합심해 법 개정에 나서달라”고 요청했다.

  행사에는 김성곤 재외동포재단 이사장과 김덕룡 세계한인상공인연합회 이사장, 대륙별 한인회연합회 회장과 세계한인회장대회에 참석한 각국 한인회장 등 200여 명이 참석했다.

  지난해 10월 출범한 세한총연은 전 세계 10개 대륙별 한인회 총연합회와 500여 개 지역 한인회를 대표하는 단체로, 회원은 한인회장들로 구성됐다.

World Assembly of Korean Associations to ‘form platform to support prosperity for Koreans worldwide, as well as humanity’

  The World Assembly of Korean Associations (President Shim Sang-man) declared it would create a global platform for the joint prosperity of humanity and Koreans worldwide at the first founding anniversary workshop held at the Songdo Convensia Convention Center in Incheon on Oct. 7.

  President Shim Sang-man and Senior Vice President Yoo Je-heon (president of the Association of Korean Residents in Europe) stated they would be forming a Korean association network worldwide, vitalizing public diplomacy activities for the enhancement of Korean associations’ capabilities, and carrying out research and surveys to satisfy the needs of the overseas Korean community, in addition to foreign cooperation activities.

  They also emphasized that they would strive to create cooperation among local governments, various institutions and Korean associations in South Korea, and that they would take the lead in the discovery and nurturing of young talent.

  “The World Assembly of Korean Associations will speak for the 7.32 million overseas Koreans out there, based on the support and participation of Korean association leaders worldwide,” Shim said. “In addition, we will do our best to become a trustworthy partner, always working for the betterment of overseas Koreans.”

  Participants held up signs that read, “May the National Assembly authorize the overseas Korean service,” requesting that both the ruling and opposition parties work together to amend the law so that the long-standing wishes of the overseas Korean community can be fulfilled.

  Around 200 people were present at the event, including Kim Seong-gon (president of the Overseas Koreans Foundation), Kim Deok-ryong (president of the World Federation of Korean Association of Commerce), the leaders of Korean association federations from various continents and Korean association leaders who took part in HANIN.

  The World Assembly of Korean Associations, which was founded last October, represents the 10 Korean association federations in various continents, as well as approximately 500 regional Korean associations. The membership consists of Korean association leaders.
